Savings Goals and Earning Online

My goal is to save ten thousand dollars over the next five years.
How am I going to do that?

If I save $20 in cash every week I will have $5345 approximately in five years time.
If I put it in a high interest bank account 5.25%p.a in five years time I would have around $6079. Still not enough.
Let's make it $25 a week into that same account, after five long years I have saved about $7586.
To do it within 5 years I need to save around $33 a week to make my $10,000 target.

BUT what if we tried this a different way? Short term sacrifices for long term gain?
$200 a week is a lot of money, but it is possible. Cut out all the unnecassary wastage of money and I can. Use the income I am earning online to pay for it. And in that same bank account, after one year I will have ten thousand dollars saved. Really puts things in perspective doesnt it?

If I did that for five years I would have $50,000. Now thats a lot of money.

Now the purpose of all these calculations was to determne my goal for online earning. I want to earn a minimum of $200 a week in profit. Now granted, I made that last week selling on ebay, but ebay sales fluctuate so I need multiple sources of income to ensure my goal is met...

1. Ebay Selling: If I make an average of $2 profit on each item, I would need to list 100 auctions each week to make my goal. But what if some of these didn't sell? Rather my goal should be to list 50items weekly in the hope of generating $100 week.50 % of my total weekly aim.

2. Mylot: I earn an average of $1.50 a day on Mylot. Thats $10.50 a week. Now if I put in a little more effort and followed my own tips, I could definitely be earning more than that. Lets say my goal from mylot is $15-$20 a week. 10% of my overall goal.

3. So far I'm up to 60%.Now I have retired from ptr, but what if I were to take up being an active member of one of them again? Cool Cat Mails is by far the best. So say I earn an average of $5.00 from them weekly. Thats only 2.5%
*I need to come up with a way to generate the other 37.5% I need to reach my savings goal each week.* I need a way to earn $75 weekly. I would love to "go get a job" but with a seven month old son thats sort of difficult. I have looked at forex trading and such but it seems quite risky and difficult.

4. I could deduct $25 from my partners salary each week towards the savings goal. But I am still needing a means to make $50, or 25% of the target.

What can I do to make $50 a week, any suggestions?

  • Hi megs85,

I was just wondering as your blog is with blogger, why haven't you added Google Adsense and services like it? It is free.

I can see that you blog is new, but as you said you want to make extra money, you can simply add google adsence and other services like it that pays you when people clicks on their ads and others that pays you per impression, and they are all free to get.

If you don't know what is google adsense or don't undrestand what is it exactly, here is a discription:

    Google Adsense:

"One of the most famous and most profitable ways to earn money if you have a website or blog....Google pays you everytime someone clicks on their ads, they place in your site/blog after reviewing it. However google has strict policy, and you have to read their rules very well when registering....also forget about trying to click on your own ads,,,this will get your account cancelled forever. Also sneaky ways like telling your friends to click on your ads, or trying to change your IP address to click on them yourself, may get busted and therefore delete your account. You can choose if you want adsense to hold your money until you say ok, and/or whether you want to get paid via dhl express, which requires them deducting some amount to cover the fees.

Alot of sites out there offer tips, ebooks, advises...etc on to how to increase your Adsense revenue. It has become a business all by itself. After approving your site, google will give you options that range from all sized banners, text links ...etc for you to choose from so you can copy their codes and place them in your site..be sure to read through their rules and ad placing policies though."

    Sta-ads:

Sta ads are just like adsense, but they also have certain ads you have to select that pay per impression...though it is not much money, but side to side with adsense and other ads networks, they pay off..Pay per impression means everytime the ad loads, you get paid ...ie your blog loads once, that is one impression for their ads placed in it...try to include more than one pay per impression ad on your blog from them,,,they are limited though..

www.sta-ads.com choose to sign up as a publisher and not advertiser. As far as I know, they pay via mail.

Also adsense has certain rules when it comes to targeted ads placed in the same pages as them. But they assured it was ok to use sta-ads
    in the same pages...

    Adbrite:

Just like adsense...but kindda poor performance for me,,,anyway it wouldn't hurt to add up some cash even if little:
